The Music Stand module is a digital music stand designed for worship musicians and vocalists. It provides a distraction-free view of chord charts, lyrics, and song metadata for upcoming services — right in the browser. Musicians see only the services they are scheduled to serve in, with one-tap access to the full setlist and song details.
What is Music Stand?
Music Stand replaces printed chord charts and lyric sheets with a live, interactive view of each service's setlist. Key capabilities:
Schedule-Based Access
Only shows services you are personally scheduled to serve in — no clutter from other teams or dates.
Chord Charts
Monospace-formatted chord charts with proper alignment, exactly like printed charts musicians are used to.
Real-Time Transposition
Transpose any song to any key instantly. The entire chord chart updates in place — no manual re-writing.
Lyrics View
Toggle between chord chart and lyrics-only view for vocalists who prefer clean lyric text.
Stage-Ready Display
Dark mode, adjustable font size, and fullscreen mode for use on stage with tablets or laptops.
Keyboard Navigation
Arrow keys and page up/down to move between songs without touching the mouse — ideal for mid-service use.
Accessing Music Stand
Music Stand is available from the sidebar under Music Stand (music note icon). It appears for any logged-in user when the Music Stand module is enabled.
Selecting a Service
When you open Music Stand, you see a list of upcoming services you are scheduled to serve in. Each card shows:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Date | The date of the service plan |
| Service Type | The type of service (e.g., "Sunday Morning Worship") |
| Roles | Badge(s) showing your team position(s) for this service |
The list includes services from the past week (for review) and all future assignments. Tap any card to open the full setlist and song details for that service.
Setlist View
After selecting a service, Music Stand displays a two-panel layout:
- Left panel — Setlist: The full order of service, showing all items (songs, headers, custom items) in sequence. Songs show their key and duration. Headers act as visual section dividers (e.g., "Worship Set", "Response").
- Right panel — Song Detail: The selected song's chord chart or lyrics, plus metadata badges (key, BPM, meter, structure, arrangement name).
Tap any item in the setlist to view its details on the right. Song items show chord charts and lyrics; non-song items (custom items) show their notes.
Song Metadata Badges
When viewing a song, the detail panel displays informational badges above the content:
| Badge | Description |
|---|---|
| Key | The current key (shows transposition if active, e.g., "A (from G)") |
| BPM | Tempo in beats per minute |
| Meter | Time signature (e.g., 4/4, 3/4, 6/8) |
| Structure | Song section sequence (e.g., V1 C V2 C B C) |
| Arrangement | The name of the selected arrangement |
Song Navigation
At the bottom of the detail panel, Previous and Next buttons let you move between songs in order. The indicator shows your position (e.g., "2 of 5"). Navigation skips non-song items (headers, custom items) automatically.
Chord Charts
Chord charts are displayed in a monospace (fixed-width) font that preserves the alignment between chord symbols and lyrics — matching the formatting musicians expect from printed charts:
Charts come from the song arrangement data entered by your worship admin in the Song Library. If a song has multiple arrangements, the one selected for this service plan is displayed.
Transposition
Music Stand can transpose any chord chart to any key in real time. This is especially useful when a vocalist needs a different key than what was originally charted, or when capo positions change.
How to Transpose
- Select a song from the setlist.
- In the toolbar at the top, find the Key dropdown. It shows all 12 standard keys, with the original key marked "(original)".
- Select a new key from the dropdown. The entire chord chart updates instantly — every chord symbol is transposed to the new key.
- To return to the original key, either select it from the dropdown or tap Reset.
Transposition is per-song and resets when you navigate to a different song. Each song defaults to its arrangement key when first viewed.
Supported Keys
All 12 chromatic keys are available: C, C#/Db, D, D#/Eb, E, F, F#/Gb, G, G#/Ab, A, A#/Bb, B. The transposer handles sharps, flats, slash chords (e.g., G/B), and extended chords (e.g., Cmaj7, Dm7, Gsus4).
Lyrics View
For vocalists or presenters who prefer clean text without chord symbols, Music Stand offers a Lyrics tab. When viewing a song that has both chord chart and lyrics data, two tabs appear above the content:
- Chord Chart — the default view with chords above lyrics
- Lyrics — lyrics-only text without any chord notation
Tap either tab to switch. Your selection persists while viewing the current song but resets to Chord Chart when navigating to the next song.
Font Size
The toolbar includes A− and A+ buttons to decrease and increase the font size of the chord chart and lyrics content. The range is 12px to 28px, adjusting in steps of 2.
Your font size preference is saved to the browser's local storage and persists between sessions. The current size is displayed between the buttons.
Dark Mode
Tap the moon/sun icon in the toolbar to toggle dark mode. Dark mode inverts the color scheme to light text on a dark background — ideal for stage use where a bright screen is distracting.
Your dark mode preference is saved to local storage and persists between sessions.
Fullscreen Mode
Tap the expand icon in the toolbar (or press F11 in most browsers) to enter fullscreen mode. This hides the browser chrome, sidebar, and header — giving maximum screen space to the chord chart or lyrics.
To exit fullscreen, tap the collapse icon in the toolbar or press Escape.
Keyboard Shortcuts
Music Stand supports keyboard navigation so you can move between songs without touching the mouse — useful when your hands are on an instrument.
| Key | Action |

| ← or ↑ or Page Up | Previous song |
